Afterbeatingthem withrods,theyboundthem andputthem intheinnerprison withverytightsecurityWhiletheywereintheprisonboundinchains,theSpiritofChristin them madethem nottobeafraid.TheywerepraisingandworshippingGod andotherprisonerslistenedtothem.Astheyweresingingatmidnight,Godsentavery strongearthquakethatshooktheprisonhouse.ThefeterstheyboundPaulandSilas withbroke.TheprisondoorsopenedbutPaulandSilasdidnotrunaway.Whenthe prisonguardsaw thattheprisondoorswereopen,hewantedtokilhimselfbecausehe thoughtthatPaulandSilashadescaped.Hedidnotwanttofacethepunishmentof beingkiled.AsPaulandSilassawhim tryingtokilhimself,theystoppedhim andhesaw thattheydidnotrunAwayafteral Havingseenalthathappened,theprisonguard changed.HetookPaulandSilastohishousethatverynight.Hewashedtheirwounds andservedthem food.Hewasconvertedwithalthemembersofhisfamily.

While Pauland Silas were in the prison guard’s house,the magistrates sent policementotelthem thattheyhadbeenreleased.Paulsaidthatthemagistratesmust comeandapologisetothem fornotrespectingtheirrightsasRomancitizens.Theywere punishedwithoutbeinggivenfairtrial. Themagistrateshadtocometotheprisonguard’shouseandapologisedtothem.After thatPaulandSilasleftPhilippi.
